As far back as I can remember,
I have been fascinated by
the story of the railroad.
My lifelong interest in railroading stems from my grandfather, Kevin Piper, whose thirty-five-year career as a locomotive engineer inspired me to become an artist and photographer. This is the story of how it all happened — our story.
Kevin was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis 2011. He retired early in 2013, and now resides in a nursing home.
Through his collected color slides, stories, and model trains, Kevin remains a constant source of guidance and inspiration in my life.
